Communicable Disease
Marshall County Public Health investigates several communicable diseases with the assistance of Iowa Health and Human Services Center for Acute Disease Epidemiology (CADE). Each reportable communicable disease can be found on the EPI Manual on the Iowa HHS website.
Local follow up is required from Marshall County Public Health for these communicable diseases to stop the spread of infection. If you have any questions or think you may have a reportable communicable disease call CADE at 800-362-2739.
Legionnaires' Disease
In the late 2025 Marshalltown experienced a legionella outbreak that affected 74 individuals and took the lives of 2.
